SPOKEN WORD POETRY: SARAH KAY

Thursday, 12 January 2012

Sarah Kay performing 'Private Parts'. Yes, some of the spoken word can be a little cheesy, but it's honest and sweet and I like it for that. I fell in love with her voice and her spoken word poetry after finding a lecture of hers, featuring her poem 'If I should have a daughter', on TED - who have some amazing lectures based on all kinds of things - suicide prevention and the changing of views on it; biology; understanding consciousness; the aftermath of the Trade Centre attacks in 2001; politics and many other topics, all of an outstanding quality. It could be described as a time-wasting activity, but it's so informative there's no way it is!
