It's been a busy August. I've moved out of my flat, into a new one, finally got my hospital appointment through, had my first full month as a graduate - albeit a so-far-unemployed one - and turned twenty two. For my (early) birthday, Ainsley and I went down to the Barbican Centre for a couple of hours after my little trip to St Bart's Hospital. We got some food, I left my umbrella everywhere we went (finally leaving it on the train platform for good on the way home), got a bit soaked by the rain and took a few pictures by the brutalist architecture of the Barbican Estate. I couldn't resist taking a picture of the woman by the water features, she had an effortlessly cool outfit going on and anyone who knows me knows I love all black everything.
The food at the Barbican Food Hall is great - super fresh, lots of variety and reasonably priced. Ainsley and I got nearly identical meals: a slightly cheesy filo pastry basket with salad and proscuitto, fresh tomatoes, and pasta salad with olives, rocket and sun dried tomatoes; a rice, radish and avocado salad for me and a butterbean and squash salad for Ainsley.
We're planning on going back to have a proper look at the Digital Revolution exhibition, focusing on the future of design, music and gaming given the technological advancements we're currently making - it looks fantastic. There's even little bits of the exhibition you can see for free, like Robots in the Sky game, controlled by your brain activity and eye movement through sensors placed on the forehead and behind the ear. I'm sure the rest of the exhibition will be just as good!
I always get so lost at the barbican! It is such a surreal place. I haven't eaten there before so I will have to next time! x
