A few years ago I took a trip to Iceland with some of my schoolfriends, under the premise of a geography field trip - it was a field trip like no other, though. It's one of the most beautiful places I've been (which admittedly isn't that many in the first place, but never mind) and I'm itching to go back. It's a photographer's dream, the light and landscapes are like no other. I was in my early teens when I went, and it'd be amazing to see Iceland from an older perspective with a little more freedom to explore. At the time, I had my first dSLR, but all the photographs from the trip were sadly lost at some point when I switched computers, so all I have left are some very poor quality, faded print outs which I used to have stuck on my wall. I'm hoping to make a trip back in the next couple of years to photograph it all over again with my new equipment. I've been looking at a lot of footage and photographs from around the world recently and it's got me desperate to travel. Below are some of my favourite Iceland-related films on Vimeo (click the titles for more information). There's some great music in these films too - Bon Iver's 'Holocene' is the first, and one of my all time favourite bands This Will Destroy You feature in the third (the song is 'The World is Our __'). I absolutely love the sound of the Icelandic language, too (you only have to listen to Sigur Ros to hear how beautiful it is).
