50MM EXPERIMENTATION

Tuesday, 7 August 2012

Something about house hunting for 'university home' and simultaneously having to move house at 'home' makes me absolutely furious with everything. The vacuum cleaner is my most hated sound in the world and here it is continually being used to remove the bits of wasp nest and the debris left behind by cleaning out an attic that hasn't been opened in at least fifteen years - apart from to throw more things on the pile. I'm looking forward to having a clean slate at the new house, though! I'm also excited about the possibility of being able to drunkenly stumble home instead of attempting to organise lifts, make financial negotiations with taxi drivers, and remember the way to my house all whilst considerably worse for wear.

In the mean time, I've been finding some useful things, and some not so useful but sweet things. I found my 50mm lens whilst organising my camera equipment, and so I thought I'd give it a go. My camera wasn't brilliantly co-operative to begin with, as it isn't used to having non-automatic lenses whacked on it without notice, but as always my little Pentax was persuaded and I've been playing about with it in the garden, resulting in the photographs above. I generally take out my 18-55mm lens for ease, but once I've sewn a case for this one it'll be coming with me!

  1. These photographs are so beautiful, I love the lavender one. I hope your double whammy of moving eases soon and you're stumbling home in no time xxx

    1. Thank you, I'm hoping I'll be there too, stumbling home is somehow so much easier than having to have the whole taxi kerfuffle when you're drunk! xx
