HUNGER MAGAZINE, ISSUE I

Sunday 8 April 2012

Photographs taken of sections of the launch issue of the bi-annual magazine, Hunger (Winter 2011)

I recently picked up the launch issue of bi-annual Hunger magazine in my new favourite newsagents next to Spitalfields Market. When I say magazine, I use the term loosely - it's near enough a coffee table book. Considering it's only £4, you certainly get a lot for your money. I'm still on my first read through, and that's only for the images; I've yet to read any of it, because the pictures are so beautiful! It's something which you can spend hours looking at, and never get fed up of. The issue features all sorts of amazing people. One of my favourite features was the model Dani Smith's project Myths, Monsters and Legends - a concept initially intended for fashion by Smith and Damien Hirst. They then approached Rankin to photograph it, and it grew from there, into a book. Rankin went on to do an interview on Dazed Digital. However the best bit about it for me so far was the film (below) made for Hunger TV, which has an incredible amount of other films shot from the first magazine. It's definitely worth a visit!
