In With The Old, Exmouth Market, London

Thursday, 2 July 2015

Taking a walk in the city on the hottest day in twelve years might not have been the most sensible of plans, but taking the little streets to Kings Cross showed us some of the most beautiful residential areas I've seen yet in London. It also had us happen across Exmouth Market, an amazing street full of pretty restaurants, shops full of handmade and artisan items, and the well known Family Business Tattoo parlour. We were in a bit of a rush, but got pulled in by the potted succulents in front of In With the Old - and the shop dog, Goose! We couldn't help but have a look inside - and were surprised to see the staff working on items for the shop right in front of us, sewing machine whirring away and yards of fabric ready for use. The shop is beautifully styled (everyone loves cacti, copper detailing and industrial touches, right?), and full to the brim with hand made jewellery, candles, clothes, vintage items and other gems from independent London designers and makers. If I hadn't been in a hurry to get a train, I'd probably have left with half the shop (and possibly attempted to nab Goose, as well). If you're looking for vintage homeware, interesting stationery or a gift - and want to support local artists - I highly recommend a visit! Oh, and if you like cute dogs, probably follow them on instagram, too.
