A while ago I came across the work of Ukrainian photographic duo Synchrodogs, made up of Tania Shcheglova and Roman Noven. I was immediately taken with their 'Reverie Sleep' series - a seriously weird (but very visually striking) blend of surrealism, nudity, and extreme environments, created to depict the imagery found in their dreams and recorded to turn into artwork - they experimented with lucid dreaming techniques to exploit the brain's odd and occasionally hallucinatory processes during non-REM sleep. Their imaginative, sometimes even awkward style has created great interest in their work, and has seen them shoot for the likes of Harpers Bazaar, Dazed and Confused, Esquire and Urban Outfitters. They've also been interviewed by one of my favourite magazines, Hunger (read here).
Wow, these are incredible. I've always been fascinated by lucid dreaming - it makes for an interesting muse I think.
